No, Myx Firepits have high BTU output and are designed to be connected to a plumbed fuel source. Please see our Preparation Guide for details.
Yes, the concrete of the firepit will develop a patina as it ages. Patina is a natural surface aesthetic that occurs over time due to exposure to weather elements. Concrete will naturally change in appearance from season to season. Each firepit will develop unique characteristics, exposing the attributes of concrete that have been celebrated for centuries.
While Myx firepits have a stain-resistant sealer, moisture or grease that sits on the concrete for an extended period can penetrate the finish and cause stains. Eventually, stains evaporate away, but to avoid them from initially happening, you should wipe away spills or use mild dish soap with a soft bristle brush to remove them quickly after the occurrence. Coasters are also recommended to avoid moisture rings.
While the concrete is pre-weathered and designed to withstand the outside elements, it is recommended to cover the firepit during long periods of non-use to prevent debris, insects, or heavy moisture from entering the component system area. Firepit covers can be purchased here.
